| Abstract | Messiasia d'Andretta occurs exclusively in the Americas, ranging from the south-western United States to Uruguay and northern Argentina; it is found both in forests ad in open formations. Species considered as valid in this revision are: 1. californica; 2. carioca, sp. m.; 3. carrerari; 4. dalcyana; 5. decor; 6. lanei; 7. mocoronga, sp. n.; 8. notosplia; 9. painteri, sp. n.; 10. penai, sp. n.; 11. perpolita; 12. pertenius; 13. testaceiventris; 14. uaupes, sp. n.; 15. virgata; 16. yacochuya, sp. n.; 17. zikani. |
